Growth

Track who's actually driving sales — and pay them what they've earned.

Each referrer gets their own login, their own unique storefront URL (?rid=X), and a dashboard listing every order attributed to them. Customers shop normally; the order tags itself with the referrer's ID. You see exactly who brought in which orders, then pay commission on your own terms outside WhatsMenu.

What it does

Referrer is an **attribution-tracking** feature, not an auto-reward engine. Add a referrer (name, email, password) and they get their own login plus a unique URL like `https://yourstore.whatsmenu.page/?rid=42`. Click Copy share link to grab their URL — they post it on social, in email signatures, on a website. When a visitor opens the URL, the referrer ID is stored in the visitor's browser session, so any order they place during that session is tagged back to the referrer. The Referrer dashboard lists every attributed order — date, customer, total, status — so you can calculate commission and pay it out on your own schedule.

Who it's for

Influencer marketing — give each influencer their own referrer account; every order from their audience tracks back. Sales agents — track field-sales performance, one account per agent. Customer referrals — create a referrer for each participating regular and pay them on successful orders. Real estate / services — give each agent or service partner their own link to track leads. Anyone whose growth depends on knowing which channel actually delivered the customer.

How it works

  1. Enable Referrer in Settings > Apps. Open Apps > Referrer > Manage Referrers, click Add Referrer, and fill in their name, email, and an initial password (they can change it after signing in).
  2. Click Copy share link on any referrer row to grab their unique URL. Send it to them — they share it on social, in email signatures, in DMs, wherever they reach their audience.
  3. When a visitor opens the URL, the referrer ID lands in their browser session. Orders placed in the same session get tagged. Click the Orders icon on any referrer row to see exactly what they brought in (date, customer, total, status). Calculate commission your way and pay them outside WhatsMenu.

When to use it

Turn it on the moment anyone is driving traffic to your storefront on your behalf — an influencer doing a story, a salon stylist sending clients to your hair-care storefront, a real-estate agent bringing in property enquiries, a regular customer who keeps recommending you. The dashboard ends "who actually brought this order in" arguments cleanly.

Frequently asked questions

Does WhatsMenu pay the referrer automatically?

No — Referrer tracks attribution; payouts are on you. Look at a referrer's attributed orders, calculate commission your own way (fixed fee, percentage of revenue, tiers), and pay outside WhatsMenu (bank transfer, PayPal, cash, however you prefer). Commission policy and dispute resolution stay in your hands.

How long does the attribution last?

Attribution is **session-based** — the referrer ID lives in the visitor's browser session. Orders placed in the same session count. If the visitor clears cookies or switches devices before checking out, attribution is lost. Plan your incentives around "first visit within the same session" rather than indefinite tracking.

Can a referrer see my revenue?

Referrers see only orders attributed to them — their own contribution. They can't see your total store revenue, your customer list, or other referrers' orders.

Can I prevent referrers from referring themselves?

Not with a built-in block today — the system doesn't enforce it. If a referrer is also a customer, set self-referral exclusion as part of your commission policy and check it when you compute payouts.

Can I run Referrer alongside Coupons and Loyalty?

Yes — three independent systems. A customer can use a coupon AND be attributed to a referrer; loyalty points still earn on the same order. Most merchants run all three in parallel: coupons for one-off promos, loyalty for repeat behaviour, Referrer for partner attribution.

How many referrers can I have?

Depends on your plan. The Referrer list shows a usage indicator (e.g. "Usage: 4/20") so you can see how many more you can create. Higher tiers lift the cap.
